12/08/01 Notes: Isn't it a pity?.... All things must pass away ....
10/05/01 Notes: Introducing "The Bridge" a new CD by Larry Mitchell on Texpatriate Records.
I was fortunate to have met Larry Mitchell back in January. Ever since
This was by far the most professional recording project I have been associated with but at no time did it lose the heart soul and spirituality that make up these wonderful songs.
Please go out and by this CD. It's pure americana performed by Americans in Nashville, TN. This music is full of hope and in these hard times we must believe together "we will make it across this bridge and find peace and freedom on the other side."
Thoughts and prayers,
9/20/01 Notes: May we never forget September 11th 2001. "Imagine all the people
Hey Johnny, look what they've gone and done to New York City...
8/01/01 Notes: The CRAWFISH SUCKING REBELS are the southern bad boys that this ol Yankee's been playing with down here. We're also known as The Faders and led by the great Davis Raines. We'll be playing at Billy Block's Western Beat show August 28th. We would like to thank Billy for the support he's been giving us. Davis is on a solo acoustic tour of Texas with Ace Ford and Walt Wilkins. The Faders guitar man Larry Mitchell pictured far right has a solo album called the Bridge due out soon. That release party will be at the Douglas Corner September 1st. More info to come on that great CD. Slade Cochran
August 10th I'll be playing drums with Tim Carroll at 12th and Porter (opening for the Bottle Rockets....they kick butt!!). It will be great to rock and roll with Tim again. He has a new CD out at Miles of Music check it out.
August 18th Scary Wagon will be in the studio finishing the new CD and we're hoping for a an October release. A song from that CD just might be in a movie. They filmed me singing it at the Basement a great new club here in Nashville.
A crew from New York is doing a documentary on songwriters, and they filmed us playing and then interviewed us.
North Street, our buddies from the liquor store basement in Med Vegas have a new web site. Check it out. I hear the 2nd annual Kingdom Fest was a great time of music and fun in the mountains of Vermont.
"The Best part about Nashville is it's not that far to Memphis." hope to get back there soon.
6/23/01 Notes: Rest in peace John Lee Hooker. Keith James White and I had the privilege of playing on stage with him at Harpers Ferry back in 1990. He was in town visiting friends and he stopped by Harpers with an entorage of beautiful women. 5/22/01 Notes: Well, here is the result of the long drive to Nashville a few weeks back. "Lights On For Safety" is one of the tunes we were able to finish up (sorta) with the fiddle player and Larry helping out on vocals. 4/28/01 Notes: It's spring time in Nashville. Gerry came down earlier this month and we did a live set at the Sutler and we also recorded some of our best stuff yet. We had Tim Lorsch playing fiddle and mandolin, and Larry Mitchell of the Faders helped out with some Gram Parsons inspired vocals. Gerry will have an MP3 of "Lights On" for you to hear real soon. Stay tuned.
I've been busy with Davis Raines and the Faders this month. Last weekend we played in Faunsdale, Alabama at a Ca-John's annual Crawfish Festival. Hung out with a long lost friend from Medfield. Does anyone remember 1982, a sweet southern accent, purple micro dot and The Providence Civic Center ? This month we'll be recording Larry Mitchell's CD which is being produced by the great Davis Raines . Find out more about Davis here. Our old buddy Two Scoops Moore is still banging on the keys out in Seatle... check it out. Hope all is well in Boston, drop us a line. Send me some clam rolls and salt water taffy please.
3/19/01 Notes: I'm heading back to Boston to do a radio show with Mickey Bones and the rest of those bad brass strolling funksters. The Hot Tamale Brass Band. We'll be playing that 2nd line New Orleans jazz brass music live on Mai Cramer's Blues After Hours on WGBH radio. Don't miss this on Friday March 23rd. Tune in from 9 PM to 11. WGBH 89.7 FM.
Then on Saturday
March 31st Gerry will be down in Nashville for a recording session we're doing and a special live performance at The Sutler. We will be playing some new tunes and warming up for Davis Raines and the Faders. The Faders have done some hard work and time working up to legend status.... Some say this is the band that put the "age in Garage".
Also check out the new CD by Michael Shelley. It features bass guitar work by our buddy, Woodstock, NY "via Somerville MA"native John Lee. The CD has some catchy original rock and roll . Read more here.
Hope to see you soon
Teddy
2/02/01 Notes: Well the new Scary Wagon single has just been released on a CD called Rockin at the Barn Volume 2.
It's on Dusty Records. It is a compilation of
I'll be playing that song Sunday night at the Sutler. Opening up the show on acoustic and then hoping behind the kit to play with Davis Raines and the Skillet Lickers. This will be our second show together. Talk about outlaws. This guys the real deal, and a great american story teller. Shirley and Bob Larkin ("Mom and Dad") will be in Nashville this weekend and we'll be taking them to The Ryman for the Grand Ol Opry featuring Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss & Union Station.
It was interesting to hear on that Ken Burns Jazz special that
Chris Coughlin has been busy editing for The National Geographic Channel which is finally up and running in the US. "Sea Stories" will be showing on Saturdays at 8pm. Check out what Chris does when he's not playing the accordion and go hear him with The Dumpsters and North Street.
Keep rockin at the barn ya'll.
Teddy
1/04/01 Notes: It's 2001 at Scary Wagon.com. Thanks for the support Ya'll gave the band in 2000. We have a lot of big things planned this year so please continue to stop by our site for news and features . The highly expecTed new CD should be out sometime this spring. Gerry has been mixing and putting final touches on 3 new tunes that we recorded last week. Plus concert footage from the shows and a tell all book by Chris Coughlin called "Squeeze Me - my life as a rock and roll accordion player". A must read!
"1st Night in a third world ". I played a Nashville New years Eve gig with Tim Carroll and Lonesome Bob at the Sutler. It was a snowy night of roots rock / americana. A big Congratulations goes out to Tim for his album Not for Sale being named top album of the year by the Tennessean newspaper. The album is for sale at Miles of Music. Pick one up. Also on the list was a Boston favorite, Dennis Brennan.
Tonight it's Elizabeth Cook night at 12th and Porter. She is performing for Atlantic Records after just signing with that label. They are in for one great show. Performing with her are Tim Carroll, "her main man", and Kenny Vaughan of Lucinda Williams fame.
Music lost another great guitarist last weekend Eddy Shaver, the son of songwriter Billy Joe Shaver. Eddy was as talented a guitar player as his father is a songwriter. He had played with his father as well as Guy Clark and Dwight Yokum. We had the privilege of seeing him at the Exit Inn only a month ago.
January 18th I will be singing songs in the round with Jessica Brent at The Boardwalk Cafe.
Thanks for the gum Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker....
We look forward the hearing from everyone. Check back soon.
12/29/00 Notes: Hi folks! We had a great couple of gigs last week. Our pal Forrest filmed the last two shows so maybe we'll have a bit of video up here at some point.
We've added a Guest Book so if you hurry you can be one of the first to tell us your deepest secrets. Come on and leave your mark for posterity (or until we delete it..whichever comes first!)
Happy New Year!
11/29/00 Notes: Hope Ya'll had a great Thanksgiving. Has that cold turkey gotcha sleepy? I'll be in Boston on December 16th for a couple of shows and Christmas with family and friends. I've been fine tuning some new tunes, and we hope to do some recording at Gerry's Tropical Dimension Studio's.
Had the privilege to go back stage at The Grand Ole Opry last week. It was a night I'll never forget. Our friend Elizabeth Cook was performing at the show. We hung with her family and all the Opry regulars. Everyone was picking and grinning.
Our song Scary Wagon will be out in two months on the latest compilation by our friends at Dusty Records in Sweden . We've also added a second online distributor of our music. It's efolkmusic.com. You can find some good stuff from Doc Watson, The Carter Family, and Greg Brown on this site. Drop by and say hello.
December 10th I'll be singing at the Davis Raines songwriter showcase which takes place at the Sutler in Nashville. Thanks to Jessica Brent, a great singer songwriter from the Mississippi Delta who told me about this show. Hopefully she'll add her pretty voice to my songs.
10/29/00 Notes: There's a new guitar picker in town! His name is Russell James White. Born October 25th, and he can already play the solo to Lil' Wing! Congrats to Keith and Beth!
10/27/00 Notes: Scary Wagon would like to thank Bonnie for getting our CD out to folks in the western part of the state. You may remember her from all those days and nights at Johnny D's. Glad she's on the bus with us.
Two Christmas shopping tips for you. Our CD ResurrecTed and Levon Helm's book This Wheel's on Fire. This is by far the best book I have ever read on the roots of American music. For all you folks in Boston, don't miss Levon Helm & the Barn Burners at Harpers Ferry November 4th.
Scary Wagon has added 3 shows in December, we'll keep you posted.
Hope you all have a very Scary Wagon Halloween!!
10/07/00 Notes: Let's try a little experiment here -- Jeff was kind enough to make us this little movie, so click here to play a streaming RealPlayer version (not as high quality) or here (for a better QuickTime version). The movie features a bit of "Drinkin' and Smokin'".
09/21/00 Notes: I'll be performing over at the Borders Books and Music in Brentwood TN again this Saturday night with Jeff Jacob. This is a great place to do the new material.
We want to send a big "Hello and thanks" to our friend Ingrid in Scotland. She's been blasting our CD ResurrecTed while cruising the Shetland Islands. She also introduced us to a great band from Scotland called DEM LOT. They do a good cover of Raul Malo and Al Anderson's "All you ever do is bring me down".
09/18/00 Notes: We ended our summer on a sad note Rob Larkin my brother and Scary Wagon's biggest fan passed away after a long illness. Besides inspiring several of our tunes, he would often introduce the band and get the audience going with his great sense of humor. Even when he was sick he would be at our shows. We'll miss you Rob, and I hope you're having a good time up in Rock and Roll Heaven.
09/09/00 Notes: Had a great time with the Hot Tamale Brass band at the Tweeter Center and Jones Beach. It was fun playing again with Mickey, Phil, Timo, Brian and Doc. Hope to check out Jason and the Scorchers performing at Centennial park here in Nashville and then I'll be heading down to Memphis for the holiday. I just have to see those ducks at the Peabody Hotel, The Hollywood All-Stars at Wild Bill's, Wanda at the P & H cafe and Al Green's Full Gospel Tabernacle Choir.
09/01/00 Notes: It was a great 2 weeks of shows. Thanks to everyone who came out. Especially to the youth of America who stormed the stage at the Gazebo. We finished the east coast shows with 3 rocking sets at the Sportsmen's lounge.
Then it was off to Nashville where we played 3 more shows. It started out with a 2 song spotlight performance at the legendary Bluebird Cafe. We performed Old Farts and Hungry, and were introduced to an up and coming star. A true genius . His name is Masa. Imagine if you mixed up the sounds of Bob Dylan, The Beastie Boys, Ian Hunter, and Iggy Pop. This is what you might get . Check out his site. Say hello and read his lyrics.
Tuesday we hit a matinee at The Grand Old Opry. It featured country hall of fame member
After getting a good dose of the Opry, it was time for some more Krispy Kreme glazed donuts and the Billy Block Western Beat show. Local talent Jen Cohen put on a high energy performance of swampy delta like pop. Remember this name, you'll be hearing big things from her soon. Then a brand new all girl group called Hen House featuring Rosie Flores. This was their Nashville debut, and what a rocking set it was. Now I don't feel so bad that I missed that Go Go's reunion. These lady's play some killer country rock and swing. They were introduced by Jim Lauderdale. Also in the audience checking it out were Lucinda Williams and Delbert McClinton.
Did you know that England is the home of the world best bluegrass band? They were called Yes, or was it Yessum? That's how former New Grass Revival member John Cowan introduced his electric bluegrass version of Long Distance Runaround. John Cowen is the most talented performer I've seen down here yet Check out his new CD on Sugar Hill Records.
We were fortunate to have Tim Carroll sit in with us for the next 2 shows. Tim is an old friend of Mark and Daryl Frazier, and a favorite of "Rocking with Greg Reibman". He has penned songs for John Prine, Asleep at the Wheel, and Robbie Fulks to name a few. Stay tuned for more, and be sure to check out our new wicked cool links page that will be coming soon. A big thanks to Rob "our new friend from Brooklyn", and to Joan, Lorrie and Jill. And last but not least Jack at the Boardwalk Cafe and Mike from Guidos for having us.
I'll be coming home to play with Mickey Bones and The Hot Tamales Brass band. We are opening for Doctor John, Aaron Neville and John Fogerty at the Tweeter Center August 20th, and the same bill plays on the 21st at Jones Beach in Long Island NY. Also we just added a Scary Wagon "stripped down version" show at O'brien's Thursday, August 17th. Hope to see you at one of these shows.
Peace and Love from music city, 07/30/00 Notes: About 1,500 Krispy Kreme Donuts were consumed by Scary Wagon and friends this week in Nashville. Give us a moment to digest, and we'll update you about the music and events of the past 2 weeks. 07/12/00 Notes: Teddy'll be singing a few tunes at Borders Books and Music.....this Saturday, July 15th (check with the store for times). They are at 330 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN. Their number is 615-221-8804. So bring all your new Harry Potter books down and Ted will sign them! Make sure you bring a Sharpie too!
06/30/00 Notes: A Rock and Roll legend and man of God...
"Take me to the River" and to the Reverend Al Green. Jeff Eckman was visiting Nashville and we went down to Memphis, my favorite city in the world, after Paris (Texas, that is). The Mississippi River is deep and wide, and it holds a special place in my heart. So we took a ride. We went to Al Green's church and sat in on one of his bible classes. What a trip! He came into
the church sat down at the grand piano, and sang a spiritual number and then proceeded to read from the bible for an hour and a half. I can't say that I was saved, but I sure was feeling pretty funky. Only Jeff, myself and 4 members of his church were there. Spent the rest of the night on Beale Street listening to the blues.
I'll be back in Boston on July 19th for the 4 big shows starting with The Tír na nÓg. Then the band comes to Nashville for 3 more shows. The Bluebird Cafe, The Boardwalk Cafe and Guidos. Stay posted about these dates.
Bless Ya'll in Scary Wagon land and Keep your Light's on !
06/20/00 Notes: WDCE (90.1 FM) in Richmond, VA has added ResurrecTed to their playlist for the All-Most Folk show from 7-9 AM weekdays. Any of you folks from down there can call 804-289-8790 and make requests. Or if you happen to be passing through (on your way to Nashville?) you can call from your cell phone and see if they'll humor you as you pass by!
06/10/00 Notes: Ted's debut in Nashville at The Boardwalk Cafe Nashville.
"Star of the day who will it be? "
............Community Auditions without the tap dancing. That's kind of what these songwriting events are like.
A couple of standouts were Scott Huff who plays trumpet for the Maverick's and Girls with Guitars. Look out Dixie chicks!
Snowflake if you're out there, I swear one looked like Farrah in her prime. Our favorite performer of the night was MINDY who played a Dan Electro and sang like a bird. Can't wait to play with the rest of the band down here. Looks like end of July.
Anyway, to get you up to date, Jill and I are living on Hayes Street right behind Exit / In, which is home to the Billy Block Western Beat show. Tom Halter, who plays trumpet on our song Dorinda, is at the Exit / In next week with Orchastra Morphine. He'll be surprised to see us.
On our second night in town we we're welcomed with a beautiful night of music under a tent featuring Emmylou Harris, with special guest Buddy and Julie Miller. Julie had her basket of tricks with her. The 3 of them looked great and it made us happy to be here.
Fire flies a buzzing!! Hope all is well in Boston. Get down here quickly boys, Nashville's waiting.
05/20/00 Notes: Thanks to Robert for bringin us in to The Tír na nÓg the other nite. It's a great pub with just the 'right' feel. We managed to fit all 5 of us on the stage and for some reason we always have a blast crammed in like that. "Togetherness" I guess!
We'll be over at The Burren this coming Saturday so come on out and say hello.
In July we'll be doing 4 nights in a row around Boston the 19th through the 21st (starting with The Tír na nÓg again). Check back for exact locations and dates.
05/07/00 Notes: Thanks for playing our song on the radio Joan. WMBR played Drinking and Smoking on the "3 Ring Circus" last Friday. Check out Joan's site here. Tune in every Friday from 4 to 6pm. It's the best way to start your weekend. A big HELLO to Rich in Texas, and thanks for including Scary Wagon music at your BBQ ! Hope to be there "live" sometime soon.
Teddy's going down to Nashville for a while. He'll be performing solo at the Boardwalk Cafe June 8th. Don't miss the 2 shows in May because the band will not be performing in the Boston area again till July 20th. Stay in touch for updates on this site.
04/21/00 Notes: We tried an experiment the other night..live recording to 8 tracks. All in all it went pretty well. You can hear the results of 2 songs by clicking the links in the pop up window that should have appeared by now.
04/02/00 Notes: Yes, it's true, two drummers on the wagon. With their livers intact. We all know Teddy Larkin is a drummer, but he prefers to pick the guitar and sing with Scary Wagon. Tonight we proudly introduce to you
Boby Bear is an old friend and an original talent. You may know him from The Atlantic's, Willie Loco Alexander, and most recently with the award winning band The Darlings ' winners of Boston music award, and the Jim Beam National Talent Search in Nashville.
He is an exciting entertainer, who brings the true understanding of groove, and a whole lot of chemistry to the group. He also appreciates that Ringo was in fact a "hillbilly drummer" and the 3 Stooges were and remain our important friends. Boby is very much in touch with aliens, and the spirit world. Welcome to Scary Wagon Boby, we're looking forward to the ride.
Best wishes to Charlie Irwin, Boston's best country bass player, who has left the group to spend more time with another great band, Paved Country. Gerry has returned to bass after a season filling the second guitar slot.
We love you Charlie, and we hope we'll be seeing you around again in the future, maybe with Captain Bubbles.
This brings the band full circle. SCARY SMOKE RevisiTed! Except for Boby, all of the members in Scary Wagon were once in that "radical raunchy bad boy group", Second Hand Smoke.
03/16/00 Notes: We Just found out that the shows from the Kendall Cafe are brodcast live over the internet at RadioBoston.com. The music starts around 9 PM and we generally go on around 10. This way you'll be able to listen to Scary Wagon as you get ready for bed..(after all, it's a Monday night). Keith, run a tape deck so you'll know what we're doing!! The stripped down line up with accordian, guitar, bass and drums (at least I think!) is what will be happening next week. We'll be doing a show at the Lizard Lounge with Paved Country and the Darlings. Come on down and enter the "Just how incestuous is the Boston Music scene?" quiz for a chance to win a free Beef Jerky!! (and for the girls a date at the Kendall with Captain "soon to be prominently featured" Bubbles!).
03/12/00 Notes: Thanks to everyone who came out to the Zullo last night. If you missed it maybe you'll be able to see some video clips (you'll be able to see "the" new pants that caused quite a stir) or a new live MP3 in the next week or so. Lawrence went beyond the call of duty and brought his gear to record the show. It was definitely worth the ride down my favorite road, Route 109! If you're not doing anything on Monday nites come on out to the Kendall and see us along with our friends, Sky Blues. Great atmosphere and beer list..not to mention the food. No cover and you'll actually be able to find a free parking spot!
03/01/00 Notes: Hello Wagoneers ! Thanks for checking in . We've been busy this last month
with gigs and recording. Gerry wrote a new song and I added the lyrics .
It's a gem . We recorded it in Gerry's studio, and you should be hearing it
at our shows soon.. It's called "Takes 1 2 no 1".
It looks like Country Rock Specialisten in Sweden is deciding between 2 of
our songs for this summer's Dusty Records compilation. The song "Scary Wagon"
with guest vocals by Sue Tedeschi "our favorite Grammy nominee", and Matt
Levenworth on fiddle. The other song is "She's Not the Girl". This is a rock
and roll ditty about Johnny's Larkin's Cadillac and a sweet young lady named
Tracy.
A big hats off to Charlie Irwin for getting to the shows with crutches and
laying down that groove with his foot in a cast, and on a chair .
KEITH JAMES WHITE is now officially on the Wagon playing lead guitar. He
replaces Mark Frazier who is pursuing his songwriting career in LA , and a
cute young lady named Joan from the Berkshires. Best of luck Mark and thanks
for the inspiration, and getting the Wagon rolling from the start!
Keith is no new comer, he worked with Gerry and I in the Rick Russell band
and again with Chris in SECOND HAND SMOKE. He also does those burning solos
on dobro and electric on the ResurrecTed CD.
Keith has his hair done at John Santini's Hair Saloon. I mention this for
two reasons. 1): Santini's is the one place where you can get blown dry and a
cocktail at the same time. And 2): because Keith has hair. Sorry girls he's
married but Chris "Captain Bubbles" Coughlin isn't, maybe he'll show you
his squeeze box sometime. EMAIL Chris here.
Teddy Larkin & Scary Wagon ResurrecTed is now being distributed online by a
great company out of Woodstock New York called CD Baby. Go there, and you can
listen, and buy the CD with over night delivery .
Teddy Gerry and Chris "Scary Wagon Trails" will be hosting a weekly
songwriting show case at The Kendall Cafe each Monday in March.
Each week we will have special guest. The Weistronauts, The Sky Blues, The
Drinks, and Chris "Captain Bubbles" Coughlin's / New Orleans Revue.
Don't forget to drop us a line, and get on our EMAIL list.
Peace and love, 02/05/00 Notes: Get well soon Charlie! Charlie just back from Mexico had an accident on the stairwell at the Plough . He broke his leg .( ouch! ) If you know the stairs at the Plough and Stars, he's lucky that's all he broke. I heard everyone was very helpful during this emergency, and a special thanks to the EMT's . Hope your feeling better, and up on your feet and on the Wagon soon . . Teddy 01/30/00 Notes: Thanks to all the folks who came out to the Sportsman's Lounge! Special thanks to Lawrence (and he know's who he is and why!). We had quite a good time and even a mini Second Hand Smoke reunion. The room has really good sound and the requisite number of neon signs that a good road house should have. Probably end up there again if my intuition serves me right. Emily Jackson kicked some butt on the skins!
01/04/00 Notes: Happy 2000 to everyone in Scary Wagon Land! We've got some great shows coming up we hope to see you at. Thanks to everyone who came out to see the band in 1999. Check out the review of Teddy Larkin Scary Wagon ResurrecTed at Country Standard Times. Do a 'find' for Scary Wagon..that page is loooong! We also would like you to check out The Hot Tamale Brass Band with some fun pictures and the and the 2 new sites we are associated with.
Happy 29th Birthday goes out Gerry Bellegarde Thomas "guitar, bass, vocals, recording engineer, and the guy who wrote the bridge to Old Farts"...some say he's the brains behind the Wagon. Charlie's in Mexico for his annual visit, he'll be back in February . Keep in touch everyone. Peace and Love, Teddy
12/09/99 Notes:
12/09/99 Notes: Happy Holidays you Wagoneers !! Hope to see you out at The Midway show on Dec. 18th . North Street will be there with us rocking and rolling.

of 58.He was an innovator, always mixing country blues and Cajun with Tex Mex
long before is was hip . Doug inspired many, from The Grateful Dead to Lucinda
Williams, and Scary Wagon

MARK FRAZIER is out in LA doing a family reunion, and some music biz. Maybe another platinum record coming his way.
NRBQ is celebrating 30 years as the Best Bar Band ever to drive down the Mass Pike. THE BIG SHOW is at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC Nov.20th. I will be there with Dorinda and Johnny Lee . The shows opening act is John Sebastian and The Shaggs..hoping to see our old friend Al Anderson. Don't forget the Q will be appearing on the Simpsons Nov.28th.
We opened the show with our buddy Keith James White playing guitar. He's worked with Chris, Gerry and I in our old band Second Hand Smoke, and is on the CD. Looks like he will be rolling on the back roads with Scary Wagon again soon. Dennis Brennan was after us and played a tight set. Can't wait to hear his new CD. Then it was David Champagne and his lovely wife Katy "the Sonny and Cher of punk-a-billy"- performing some barn raising good stuff . A very strong and tasty set by Terry Bright and her band followed . Terri's husband Richard on bass was a doing that solid country walk, a pleasure to hear. The shows headliner Robbie Fulks reminded us all why we were there when he sang his song Roots Rock Wierdos. That's what we are. Thanks again Terri and to all of you for coming out. Proceeds went to keep WMBR going strong on the dial.
10/28/99 Notes: Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know about some GREAT shows coming up in the next few weeks for SCARY WAGON.

GOOD NEWS
BAD NEWS
Happy Birthday to "Mr. Bubbles" Chris Coughlin and The" Wood Man" Woody Giessman.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone and Keep your Lights On for Safety !
10/19/99 Notes: It was a great night of music at the Lizard Lounge Friday Night in Cambridge. A full house of beautiful people. We had a good time opening for WOODEN LEG and HYBRASIL. It was great seeing and hearing Jimmy Ryan back in good health after his accident. Also performing was Duke Levine "Mary Chapin Carpenter's" amazing guitar player and nice guy, as well as Dana and Billy from Morphine. A special treat hearing them out doing what they do best. Thank you all for coming out!!
10/13/99 Notes: Scary Wagon Loves THE BOSTON RED SOX! There is not a game on Friday Night, so you must go see Scary Wagon at the Lizard Lounge Friday Oct. 15th. This will be our last gig til after the World Series.
We know the Sox will be taking part in it . We love the RED SOX !!
Teddy will be playing with Mickey Bones and the HOT TAMALE BRASS BAND at Fenway Park for games 3, 4 and 5.
09/22/99 Notes: Scary Wagon is performing at O'BRIENS PUB in Allston - Saturday
Night Sept. 25th. Show starts at 9:30 PM. O'Brien's is located on the corner of Cambridge St. and Harvard Ave., across the street from the Sports Depot. ( Take green line to Kenmore and 57 bus to Harvard Ave.) This is a funky roadhouse . A landmark. Unemployed hookers, undercover cops, cheap drinks, former BC football greats and the famous One Legged Go Go dancer always make this gig interesting. OK a bit exaggerated, but you get the idea. Put on your dancing shoes, and let your hair down.
This club holds a special place in my heart. I think ? I did my undergraduate work there in the 80's, and went on to receive my Ph.D. ("Pretty Heavy Drinking") in the winter of 97. If the walls could talk . The band will be SMOKING, so come on down and hear the renegade country rock songs of SCARY WAGON! When ever we play this place it's a GREAT time ! Opening the show is NORTH STREET our buddies from MED VEGAS!
09/12/99 Notes: Ted and his sweetheart Jill have been over in Europe following up on a few leads for distribution of the CD. Visiting Amsterdam and Paris and making contact with a Swedish distributor. Who knows, maybe we'll start getting a bit of airplay over there. We'll be over at O'Briens in a few weeks, so stop on down!
08/17/99 Notes: Ted and Charlie paid a visit to the Hillbilly at Harvard on WHRB last Saturday morning. He was nice enough to spin a few tunes off the CD and plug some of the upcoming dates. Thanks to all of you folks who have been over to Boston.com's MP3 site and downloaded Discovered Herself. It looks like that is going to turn out to be a pretty cool site. Speaking of cool sites, check out Freight Train Boogie. a neat collection of reviews (one of our own ResurrecTed CD) and articles of just the sort of music we like. Lot's o' links!
07/25/99 Notes: The Cantab thing (downstairs at the Third Rail), could turn out to be a pretty good thing. A nice little Cambridge room for the people in the area hosted by The Drinks. They'll have different friends show up and maybe a few people will remember and come out from week to week. Ted's encoded up a bunch more MP3s so we'll upload some of those this week....any favorites you want to hear first?
07/11/99 Notes: We'll be starting some sort of regular Thursday night thing at the Cantab in a few weeks. I guess there will be a couple of bands rotating thoroughout the month. I'm not sure of the details yet, so stay tuned....we'll post 'em as soon as they develop. You could always satisfy your curiosity by showing up on the 22nd and seeing what happens...I know that's what we're going to do!
06/18/99 Notes: You should have seen Elliot Murphy the other night (actually a lot more people should have..not many people showed up)...but what was remakable was the Dorian Gray factor..I swear that guy hasn't aged a day in 25 years! Just him and another player with accoustics and that was all they needed. Good songs.
06/07/99 Notes: The CD release party at the Midway has to be considered a success, we actually sold almost as many CDs as we gave away! Check out the sounds page for details. We'll have Mickey Bones on drums at our next gig. Come on down and check it out. I don't know about you but I'm curious about Elliot Murphy
05/27/99 Notes: I guess we are doing a show with Elliot Murphy June 13th at TT The Bears. He's quite a character and has been around since the mid seveties.
It's an early show, which people will like since it is Sunday. Elliot plays at 8:15. Scary Wagon starts right after him somewhere between 9:30-10:00. It is an 18+ show, $7 cover.
05/24/99 Notes: Well the CD is in! Come on down to the club this weekend for the CD release party. Since Monday's a holiday you'll have 2 days to recover before going back to work (seems like that's what it take these days!). I'll try and upload a few more sound clips later on this week so keep checking back.
If you want to have a CD mailed to you , email us and we'll give you the details of where to send your hard earned cash. We'll sell 'em for the bargain price of $10.00 US + $2.50 shipping.
05/11/99 Notes: Well, Memorial Day Weekend is fast approaching
The CD contains a collection of songs recorded in various studios over the years and is a pretty good sample of the eclectic songs that make up Scary Wagon's repertoire. Joining us will be our pals North Street, and who knows, maybe they'll have a few copies of their CD with them too. I dig that CD (I swear Johnny sounds like a young Mick Jagger) and I guess they are hard at work on a new one.
05/05/99 Notes: Did the Lizard Lounge thing last night...what a neat club....the bands set up "in the round" ala "unplugged". We were plugged in though! The place really has the feel of playing for friends in somebodie's basement....good sound too! Hopefully we'll get to go back there sometime soon. Still haven't had a chance to upload any new songs...soon ..really!
05/03/99 Notes: What a weekend! Two great nights in a row...Friday we met Stacy from Hellcountry at the Kendall....she's doing a great job promoting the local 'twang' scene..I see links to here site all over the net.....small stage but lot's of fun, decent sound system and cool people. Then over to the Linwood where all of those great bands were playing..Terry Bright, the Darlings, and Paved Country too. That place has the feel of the old Rat! Great stage, that unfinished feel and lot's of people. We burned a CD of the set, so I'll be curious to see how that sounds (the little snippet I caught sounded like a good mix). I'll try and put a taste of it up here this week.
04/21/99 Notes: Well, we had fun over at the Midway in JP the other night..good crowd, good friends and good music. We'll be back there for the CD release party sometime near the end of May (at least that's the rumor..I'm always the last to know!) Check back for details
Next upcoming gig is going to be our first show with the Hellcountry folks over at the Kendall Cafe. That's Friday, April 30th and we'll be playing with The Piners, (who seem to have a pretty cool site..I'll have to go back and check it out), Ville (who we haven't heard yet....can't find anything online), and Royer's One Man Band. This guy's great! We saw him back last summer in Harvard Square on the street and were so impressed not only with his amazing "guitar machine" but also with his great pickin' we actually BOUGHT his tape. I guess he's got a new revised and upgraded "guitar machine", which I'm really looking forward to hearing.
Saturday, May 1st we'll be over at the Linwood with a bunch of friends for another twang type show. I'll let the "long, lost" Greg Reibman from what was our favorite Saturday morning radio show on 'MBR do the description..(I don't think he'll mind me borrowing some of the text from his last email he was kind enough to distribute). Here's what he had to say:
Try and make it out if you can, it should be a great night. We'll have fun anyway!
I guess the next appearance after that will be over at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge on May 4th...I don't know too many details yet, so check back as the date approaches and I'll post up any news.
