Teddy Larkin is the the Boston Wrangler, the Lone Stranger, the Rebel Without a Drawl....
Like many, Teddy's early musical influences came from listening to The Beatles permeating family life in the '60s. Playing in the usual assortment of high school bands Teddy continued his experience touring the world in a USO band. Foreign locales such as Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and the Carribean made him understand that returning to life in rural Medfield, Massachusetts was not going to provide enough excitement or a large enough audience to keep him happy.
Moving to the Boston area the active club scene there provided him with All the while Teddy was trying his hand at different instruments, such as guitar and keyboards in order to further his efforts in the direction of his growing interest..song writing. Realizing that the blues alone was not going to satisfy his urge to express himself Teddy formed a series of bands in the 90's that did a combination of original material mixed with traditional songs that were complimentary for live shows. Several years of continuous live performance around the New England area with noteables such as Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Ronnie Earle, Rick Danko, Big Al Anderson, Susan Tedeschi, Duke Robillard and Lonnie Mack took their usual toll with the expected consequence..burnout. Deciding the time was right for change Teddy moved to Nashville in 1999 to see if the Music City would give him the feeling that was missing in Boston. The sense of community among undiscovered, underground songwriters proved inspirational and Teddy came up with the songs presented on "Yankee On The Wagon". A mix of traditional country influences, music of groups like The Band and singer/songwriters like John Prine, Woody Guthrie along with melodic hints of The Beatles produced the resulting record. Teddy recorded this album with the help of Gerry Bellegarde, music and business partner, and was produced by Bob Kruzen. Bob has worked with Mojo Nixon as well Steve Forbert to name a few Currently performing in the Nashville area Teddy can be found at any number of songwriter "rounds" and local clubs on a regular basis accompanied by a small band. Live performance is definitely part of the package here so if you are in the area try to catch one of the shows..and please say hello! |
